At the 2022 IAA exhibition in Hanover, Germany, Mercedes Benz released its latest pure electric tractor, the eAtros LongHaul. After six months, Mercedes Benz Trucks announced the name of its electric long-distance truck and the exact date of its global launch.
It is reported that the Mercedes Benz pure electric tractor was previously named after the eAtros Long Haul, and it is currently officially confirmed that this battery electric truck will be named after its battery capacity. Its long range version is the eAtros 600, while the "smaller" models of the eAtros 300 and eAtros 400 have battery pack capacities of 300 and 400 kilowatt hours, respectively. The new eAtros 600 will make its global debut on October 10th.
The eAtros 600 pure electric truck, as a mass-produced version of the previously exposed eAtros LongHaul pure electric long-distance heavy-duty truck, is mainly positioned for medium to long-distance transportation scenarios in the European region. On the new eAtros 600 vehicle, it is equipped with the LFP lithium iron phosphate battery pack provided by Ningde Times, which is mainly characterized by long service life, high stability, and relatively large capacity. The entire vehicle is designed with three battery packs, with a total capacity of 600kWh.
The electric drive axle specially developed for long-distance transportation by Mercedes Benz eAtros 600 has higher performance and transmission efficiency, combined with a 600kWh battery pack, allowing the eAtros 600 to have a range of up to 500 kilometers. Moreover, it is reported that the latest Mercedes Benz eAtros 600 LongHaul adopts an 800V architecture, which consumes less energy and has higher relative charging efficiency.

In addition to running far, as mentioned earlier, the eAtros 600 also has extremely high charging efficiency. The eAtros 600 supports a charging speed of 1 megawatt to power the vehicle battery. As long as it is recharged at a megawatt charging station, the eAtros 600 can be charged from 20% of its battery to around 80% in less than 30 minutes, significantly improving charging efficiency.
In terms of power, the eAtros 600 adopts a dual motor design, with a rated power of 400kw (544 horsepower) and a peak power of 600kw (816 horsepower). This power parameter performance is extremely outstanding among the electric heavy-duty trucks currently sold in the market, even if it can handle full load transportation, it can be said to be more than enough.
In terms of intelligent configuration, from the information exposed at the 2022 Hannover Auto Show, it can be seen that eAtros may be equipped with second-generation MirrorCam electronic rearview mirrors, which can achieve clearer imaging and make driving easier for drivers. At the same time, its aerodynamic improvement further enhances the vehicle's fuel economy. In terms of safety configuration, the eAtros 600 may be equipped with numerous configurations such as the fifth generation active brake assist system with pedestrian detection function, lane keeping assist system, and active side guard assist system.
In terms of reliability, according to Mercedes Benz's design requirements, the eAtros 600 can meet a service life of 10 years and 1.2 million kilometers, ranking among the industry leaders in terms of battery pack stability and vehicle reliability.
It is reported that eAtros 600 has started various tests and is currently forming a fleet of approximately 50 test vehicles for further application testing. At the same time, factories located in Walter, Mannheim, Gagner, and Kassel are preparing for large-scale production to begin in 2024, and it is expected that the mass production plan may begin implementation in 2024.
From the current perspective, the electrification of new energy has become an inevitable trend, and the Mercedes Benz eAtros 600 is at the forefront in terms of its 500 kilometer range and support for a charging rate of 1 megawatt, making people can't help but look forward to its actual experience performance after its launch.
